Instructions
1. Melt butter or drippings in a skillet over medium heat.
2. Whisk in flour to create a smooth roux. Cook 1–2 minutes.
3. Slowly add milk, whisking constantly to avoid lumps.
4. Continue stirring until thick and creamy.
5. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
6. (Optional) Stir in cooked sausage or bacon.
7. Serve immediately over biscuits, potatoes, or meat.
Notes
Use whole milk for richer flavor.
Add cayenne or garlic powder for extra depth.
Store leftovers in an airtight container up to 4 days in the fridge.
Reheat gently with extra milk to restore consistency.
